The Collective Museum of Art

Process Book

Abstract: The Collective Museum of Art is a virtual museum dedicated to giving visibility to underrepresented populations and creating an inclusive space where everyone, especially minorities, feels welcome and represented. In this virtual museum experience, visitors will be able to explore works by artists of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled artists; three groups that deserve better representation in museums. This project intends to spark a conversation about strengthening diversity, inclusion, and cultural equity in our museums. In addition to making the art on the walls an inclusive experience, I will also provide audio descriptions for further accessibility for all museum attendees. Therefore, an inclusive design approach—designing to meet the needs of as many users—will be used in the development of the virtual experience for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled visitors that are underserved in the museum space. The project will include a virtual museum experience and branding of the museum, including a logo, identity system, and a branding style guide. The collateral materials include an exhibition catalog, a series of three promotional posters, tote bags, facial masks, and buttons.
